Dear Lions of District B,

Happy Spring to all of you! In the coming month it will be time again for renewal of lion activities! April is the time of elections, we will again decide in clubs and in the district about the election of the responsible persons for the next season. Many of us may think these are just another routine! I don’t agree with this thinking, even small changes are always opportunities!

One of the great principles of Lions is that all members have the opportunity to participate in the management and development of the activities. This is a principle worth thinking about for yourself. You too have the opportunity to contribute to the development of your club, district or even the organisation as a whole, if you so wish.

Taking on these responsibilities is also fun and interesting. Being involved in club leadership will give you the opportunity to develop your own leadership, and possibly become more deeply involved in club activities.

By getting involved outside the club you can meet a huge number of new people and make new friends. I recommend it!

District events

This year’s district meeting will be held on 26 April at Martinkallio School in Espoo. More information about the district meeting can be found here.

The district party will be the same evening in Otaniemi at Täffä (Swedish University Students’ Dormitory), where there will be a really fun programme, welcome!!!

District English Club Espoo/Northwind invites us all to an open day to promote Lions fellowship and cooperation. Join us to expand your network and learn more about the activities.

Invite a Lion campaign

On Tuesday 11.2.2025, the newest club in District B has been established. So far, 6 new members from the university have joined the club, which will initially be an affiliated club of LC Tapiola. Two other new clubs have also been established in Finland: Turku/Kultur and Kolari/Ylläs.

We also have several new clubs in development by the district: the Sea Lions, the Swedish-speaking club of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, the South Asian club, and the Horse Enthusiasts club. These are now the Capital Region’s sub-clubs. If you think of a new club opportunity, please let us know and we will arrange support for the development project.

The District has invited 37 new members to join clubs from the start of this season. I understand that clubs will continue to add new members for the rest of the season, so please keep inviting!

We have also had 35 members leave the District during the season, so we have kept the District membership steady. I hope everyone will implement the invitation campaign so that we can continue to maintain and, ideally, grow our membership.

Coaching events

In the run up to the District Forum, there will again be the traditional coaching events at Martinkallio School. In the morning there will be a press training II, a treasurer training and a secretary training. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been in these roles before, Lions activities are constantly evolving, so come and hear the latest updates on how to play these roles.
