Marsa’s Christmas letter to the lions

Jaa meidän hyviä juttuja muillekin

“Soft white mantle of lumen
has covered the forest and the earth.
It’s quiet outside all
and the stars are twinkling.”

With these words from Hilja Haahd’s 1903 poem “Evening Poem”, I send my Christmas greetings to you, dear lion. If we don’t have a white Christmas here in the South, it will be white somewhere else and at least in the memories of many of us from our childhood. If anyone wishes for a more boisterous Christmas, it’s worth singing, “Hey, elves, jump, it’s time for a merry Christmas!”

But here are a few more things to remember:

Agree in your club who will represent your club with your flag at the heroes’ graves in Hietaniemi on Saturday 10.1.2026 at 10.30 a.m
Remember to sign up for the traditional Lions’ Lunch at Restaurant Laulu on the same day 10.1. at 12.00 noon. Pirkko Lahti will speak on “The caring lion?” Part of the lunch fee will be donated to Mieli ry. The lunch buffet is very tasty and rich.
Also remember to tell your clubs about your activities on the Lions Portal and to sign up new members as soon as possible! New member folders are available from the District Governor, but preferably picked up at Bäck, Köydenpunojankatu 7 B 25 (numbers 2 and 5 are printed on the buzzer). I will send the package with the name of the subscriber.

Fortunately, we can choose the kind of Christmas we want. After a hard autumn, I’m spending Christmas at home alone, so I wish you a “Merry Christmas!”
